Sonora Winds – Tucson’s Community Wind Ensemble

About the Sonora Winds

The Sonora Winds was founded by John Snavely in the mid-90s to fill a need for a wind chamber ensemble in Tucson.  The group began as the Pima College Evening Wind Band, drawing its members from the community at large as well as from students at the Pima Community College and local high schools.  After four years the group separated from Pima College and became the Sonora Winds, with a mission to enrich the cultural life of Tucson through free concerts and educational programs.

An active wind ensemble, Sonora Winds is conducted by Clifton Weston in conjunction with Musical Director Karin Nolan. It is composed of both amateur and professional musicians with a mission to perform free concerts and educational programs to enhance the cultural life of the Tucson Area Community.  The Band rehearses at Catalina High School on Wednesday evenings.

The Sonora Winds is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  Donations to the group are tax-deductible and can be sent to Sonora Winds, P.O. Box 40574, Tucson, Arizona 85717.
